1. BAPA invites employers and working organizations to participate in “Career day for people with disabilities” 2009, which will be held in Sofia, hotel Radisson on 14.10.2009. The goal of the initiative is to implement an informational seminar and potential employers to commit to the idea of providing work to people with different degree of physical disability. In the career day employers will be informed about the programs and preferences, provided by the government for hiring a disabled person as a worker.

We invite you and your company to participate in the forthcoming event in the capacity of socially responsible employer.

The present initiative is realized for fifth consecutive year hand to hand with the Agency for people with disabilities, the Employment Agency, The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and with the media partnership of TV show “Collision”, broadcasted on the national television “bTV”.

1. BAPA invites all people with different degree of disability, over 18 years of age, to participate in “Career Day for people with disabilities”, which will be held in Sofia, hotel “Radisson” on 14.10.2009. 23. 06. 2009 – “Career Day “2009

For fifth consecutive year “Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative” will implement in early October in Sofia “Career Day for People with Disabilities 2009 - A Bridge to reduce the effects of the crisis”. The project is funded by the Agency for People with Disabilities, as this year’s focus will be on the new programs and incentives, provided by the government for hiring a disabled person as a worker. After the beginning of July “Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative” will accept applications for participation in career days. Participants may be employers and people with various degrees of disability. The participation form will be attached on the website of the Association. Expect further details!

 

22.06.2009 – “Future for all – campaign for reintegration and social inclusion of young people from specialized institutions.”

“Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative” won a project “For a better future for children“, funded under operational program “Human Resources Development”  2003 - 2013. Under the project two centers for the public social support will be established in the cities Ruse and Haskovo, which will provide social counseling for young people over 18 years from the following Homes for Children Deprived of Parenteral Care:

R. Gateva, Ruse;  “ St. D. Basarbovski ”, Ruse;  Brestovica, Borovo; “ Kalina”, Byala, Starmen; “ Prof. Assen Zlatarov “, Haskovo. The project aims to develop skills for independent life, to provide information and media campaign for tolerance and involvement of the society in the process of reintegration and socialization of adolescents, inhabiting these homes, and to implement a public campaign for parental behavior to prevent the abandonment of children. Watch for details!

For fourth consecutive year there will be organized “Career Day for People with Disabilities” in Sofia. The project is a continuation of “Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative’s” initiative to provide jobs and increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities. The forum will be held in the early October. The initiative will be part of a project financed by the Agency for people with disabilities. The project will carry out an information campaign, which includes broadcasting of television and video distribution of printed materials. Further information and forms for registration and participation will be published in section “Projects” in August.

“Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative” won funding under the Operational program “Administrative Capacity”.

“Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative” won funding under the Operational program “Administrative Capacity”. At the official ceremony at Hotel Sheraton, the Minister of State Administration and Administrative Reform – Nikolay Vassilev announced the results of the work of the evaluation procedures of the Committees in March and awarded honorary diplomas. “Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative” is one of the organizations, which implement projects under priority axis: II “Human Resources Management “, sub – priority:  2. 3 “Strengthening the capacity of civil structures”. The project is named “More opportunities for people with disabilities by increasing the capacity of the structures of the civil society and aims to develop the capacity of other NGOs at the regional level, working in the field of disabled people. The project will provide specialized training and media campaign.

The informational campaign, considering the project “Discrimination is s crime”, is now finished.

In June, the informational campaign was successfully concluded and a series of debates organized by “Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative” in eight Bulgarian universities. The activities were part of the project “Discrimination is a crime” , implemented by the Association in recent months. The project aimed to help through informational campaign and debates the development of a tolerant society through cooperation in order to fight actively against discrimination in all forms. The initiative was co – financed by plan D of the European Commission for Democracy, Dialogue and Debate. More than 700 people – students, teachers, NGO representatives and journalists attended the event. As part of the initiative was created an Internet site, regarding discrimination, which is updated and supplemented periodically.  See details at www.anti.bapa-bg.org

VIP guests played for charitable purpose in the TV show “Are you smarter than a 5th grader?” by BTV support initiative “Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative” “Together at school”

Ivan, Andrey and the whole team of “Are you smarter than 5th grader?” joined “Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative’s” initiative to create opportunities for inclusive education of children with disabilities in mass schools. VIP broadcasting series will begin on December 21. Until January 8 there will be broadcasted 12 TV episodes, in which 12 celebrities from show business will participate. They will play with charitable purposes in the benefit of children with disabilities. The celebrities who will participate in the show are Slavena Vatova, Dimitar Pavlov, Juliana Kancheva, Joro Pentagrama, Iva Ekimova, duet Riton, Robin Kafaliev and others. The folk singer Kali will demonstrate knowledge. Kali’s participation in the show has caused extremely positive emotions among the public and kids in the hall revealed by the team. New guest in the transmission of the show will be Orlin Goranov.

At the end of 2007 “Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative” launched an initiative aimed at business in Bulgaria.

This year “Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative” launched a project for management of corporate social initiatives. The project represents the provision of expert assistance, consultation and management of activities related to corporate social responsibility and charity of private companies in Bulgaria.

Two large international companies recruit candidates, with permanently reduced working capacity, with the help and support of “Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative”.

Two large international companies - IBM Bulgaria and American Restaurants  launched initiatives to raise staff with permanently reduced working capacity. This policy, demonstrated by the companies, is part of their social policies to support people with disabilities. IBM Bulgaria also took part in the working meetings in "Career Day for People with Disabilities 2007. “Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative” expresses its gratitude and congratulations to the positive attitude and social responsibility that companies demonstrate.

"Career Day for People with Disabilities 2007”

On 17.05.2007 in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia was held the third consecutive "Career Day for people with disabilities2007” , part of the project “ Vocational guidance for people with disabilities - Career Day for People with Disabilities 2007" co-financed under the PHARE program of the European Union. The forum was attended by representatives of 40 companies and organizations, more than 200 unemployed people with disabilities, official guests and journalists. Employers were represented in all spheres of business and public life - services, high technology, banks and finance, trade, catering, public administration and others. 

The event was opened by Mrs. Emilia Maslarova - Minister of Labor and Social Policy. Through her presence, she expressed her support to the executive directors of the Employment Agency and the Agency for People with Disabilities, Ms Irina Papancheva - Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality, Mrs. Denitza Dimitrova - MP Mr. Dikran Tebeyan - Deputy Chairman of Bulgarian Industrial Association. The forum was hosted by Ivan and Andrey.

“Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative” expresses its sincere gratitude to all institutions, NGOs and business representatives, supporting the event to create a society free of prejudice and division. We sincerely believe that together will achieve this positive change!

The project “Inclusive education for children with disabilities in mass schools and kindergartens” - phase 2

This project is continuation of the“Bulgarian Association for Personal Alternative’s” initiative to integrate children with minor physical and mental disabilities in the system of mass education, which began last year. In the period June - October 2006, 20 schools were technologically adapted for people with disabilities.

The Main ideas of the initiative:

  1. Construction of adapted tools for teaching children with disabilities in mass schools and kindergartens in various municipalities in the country.
  2. Social inclusion and overcome social prejudices, in the spirit of tolerance, towards people with disabilities - through the early education stage of all children.
  3. Preparation of resource teachers and reduce unemployment among the group of teachers in the long term, implementation of specialized training in pedagogical, administrative and support staff within the schools.
  4. Creating an institutional partnership in order to initiate actions tackling social exclusion of children and people with disabilities.
  5. Media campaign - raising public awareness of the issues considering the inclusion of children with disabilities.

Future initiative is implemented in partnership with the Center for inclusive education, and “Save the Children UK”

Bulgarian Association for personal alternative submitted for examination a project /named "Professional guidance for people with disabilities”/ in  the “Agency for People with Disabilities” .

The main directions of the project "Vocational guidance for people with disabilities" are associated with increased opportunities for professional development and reducing unemployment among people with disabilities. The strategy of the project relies entirely on technologcal knowledge. Expert knowledge and personal skills are the main priorities of the project, which are also criteria for the alignment of the Bulgarian to the European standards.

Activities include training of unemployed people with disabilities (registered and unregistered in the national labor agencies) related to enhancing their skills for job search and professional development through participation in future projects. The project aims to establish business communication with potential employers, seeking to provide employment for people with disabilities.

Implementation of the project "Integrated study of children with disabilities in mass schools – Together at school" developed by the Bulgarian Association for personal alternative.

Council management of “Sofia Municipal Privatization Fund” decided to allocate 270 000 leva for the implementation of the project "Integrated study of children with disabilities in mass schools – Together at school. The decision refers to the report notes by Deputy Mayor of Sofia investment- Irina Savina.

The project is of great social significance for the development of adapted social environment for teaching children with physical disabilities in general schools in Sofia, by implementing the pilot model of integrated training.

The project is about providing access in 20 schools (I floor access) via ramps, adapting a classroom (through installation of new doors and providing two special desks) and a bathroom. 
The project covers 20 schools in twenty metropolitan areas - Triaditsa (73 school), "Revival" (German School), "Krasna Polyana (28 school) and" Student "(55 school) now has lifts for disabled people.

Project partners are the,SOS, Sofia,Prioriti LTD.
